چکیده

Biochemical and genetic mechanisms of oxidative stress (OS) developing in blood patients with type 2 Diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were studied. Twenty T2DM 10 healthy persons participated this study. Lipid peroxidation, the content protein carbonyls H2O2 production measured plasma erythrocytes as OS biomarkers. Activity SOD, catalase, GPx well reduced glutathionе (GSH) level estimated. The gene expression key regulators oxygen metabolic homeostasis (HIF-1α mTOR) leukocytes was It found a significant rise TBARS from compared to control. diabetic also demonstrated an increase SOD catalase activity significantly lower GSH participants. established marked inhibition mTOR tendency HIF-1α may serve protective mechanism which counteracts cell damage. Keywords: HIF-1α, mTOR, stress, diabetes

Increased Expression of TRAIL and Its Receptors on Peripheral T-Cells in Type 1 Diabetic Patients

Background: Type-I diabetes is an autoimmune inflammatory disease in which pancreatic ß-cells are selectively destroyed by infiltrating cells. TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a type-II membrane protein of the TNF superfamily which is expressed in different tissues, including pancreas and lymphocytes. In humans, TRAIL interacts with four membrane receptors. TRAIL-R1 and TRAIL-R2...

Bachground: Skin lesions are common in type 2 diabetic patients and its association with microvascular complications been reported. Methods: In this study, 1135 type-2 diabetic patients were included and examined by a dermatologist for diabetes mellitus related skin lesions, skin infections and cutaneous complications of the treatment. Smear, culture and biopsy of the lesions were done for defi...

Effect of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on Hypoxia-Inducible Factor-1 Alpha (HIF-1α) Gene Expression in Heart Tissue and Insulin Resistance Index in Type 2 Diabetic Rats

Background and Aim: One of the most common metabolic diseases is diabetes with hyperglycemic properties and endogenous insulin dysfunction. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of 10 weeks HIIT on HIF-1α gene expression in heart tissue of rats with type 2 diabetes. Methods: In this experimental study, 36 Wister rats with a mean weight of 200±58g were randomly assigned to control, diabetic,...

The Relationship between Inflammation, Oxidative Stress, and Metabolic Risk Factors in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

Abstract Objective: Globally, 3-5.2 percent of people suffer from diabetes which is one of the most serious metabolic disorders resulting in an increase in inflammatory biomarkers e.g. interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and C-reactive protein. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between inflammation, oxidative stress and fasting blood glucose, lipid profile and a...

Involvement of peripheral polymorphonuclear leukocytes in oxidative stress and inflammation in type 2 diabetic patients.

OBJECTIVE To determine the extent to which peripheral polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) contributed to oxidative stress (OS) and inflammation in type 2 diabetic patients. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS PMNs and plasma were separated from blood withdrawn from 18 type 2 diabetic patients and 16 age- and sex-matched normal control subjects. The rate of superoxide release from phorbol 12-myristate...
